For those looking to leverage their specific knowledge on a given topic, 'From Content to Capital' is a coaching program that teaches you how to use low cost technology to build high value community.
CurriculumI've spent the past 5 years teaching freelancers, side hustlers, and creators across the U.S. how to build community online and I've found three key misconceptions that keep them from turning their audience into a profitable business:
The internet allows creators to quickly build and deliver valuable content worldwide at no marginal cost. This means you no longer need the support of the masses to profit from your content. Instead of seeking the attention of a large audience, you can earn the trust of a smaller audience made up of the right people.
There are tons of software tools that allow you to build valuable web experiences based on your specific needs without any prior coding knowledge. In fact, this entire page was built without touching a line of code.
I've worked with tech startups worldwide receiving investments ranging from $100k - $50 million. What I've learned from sitting in the room with tons of investors is that they want to see a considerable amount of traction before they decide to invest. If you're just starting out, your focus should be on serving your customers and only seek to give away parts of your business to investors when you absolutely need it.
So if you don't need a big audience, developers, or tons of capital to be able to capitalize on your own ideas, then what's holding most creators back from building a profitable business?
It's not actually a lack of resources that's the problem, it's a lack of resourcefulness. That's where I come in.
For the past 10 years, I've used my background in social sciences, visual arts, and software technology to build valuable businesses for myself and others with no formal marketing or business training.
In 2015, I started teaching monthly workshops in Atlanta on key digital marketing concepts like Google Analytics and Paid Ads. During this time, I discovered my passion for teaching and learned just how much of a need there is for a business workshop that's focused on people more than profits.
I've spent the past year testing a new curriculum for content creators that's centered around building the RIGHT community rather than the largest community. Now I'm ready to share that experience with you.
"I’m not a natural when it comes to tech, but Lawrence was super helpful in breaking down how to track the performance of our site and its impact on our business. He was relaxed, professional, and clearly knew his stuff to be able to explain it to both the novices and the experts in the class."
"I’ve really enjoyed working with Lawrence. He’s helped frame business development questions in a way that’s led to actionable items and results. He’s open to answering all questions and provides guidance based on experience."
"Lawrence embodies DIY and stays ahead of the curve on whatever is developing in the tech world. He surfs easily between crunching the data and connecting with people, combining the two with enthusiasm and daring."
"I reached out to Lawrence for guidance on a range of topics. He's coached me through design issues as well as provided valuable feedback in the army stages of my business. I highly recommend him as he's truly passionate about what he does!"
"Lawrence is an innovative thinker who knows how to execute his ideas. He’s very good at explaining anything that you may not comprehend initially and doesn’t mind going through the process multiple times to ensure you have a comfortable and familiar understanding before moving forward."
"Lawrence is a visionary. He’s a creative at heart and is able to apply that skill set with the more technical side of things for a unique approach to business matters."
